Our Reviews
I was a member of the Rach Heath party and I would just like to say a big thank you and congratulations on your service on Saturday evening. We all had a great night.
Everything was absolutely spot on and please pass on my compliments to the chef as the food was top notch – it was by far the best meal I've ever had at an xmas event.
Once again many thanks and I'll definitely be back.
Kind regards,
Chris Hollis
Dear Gemma and the staff at The Airman.
Just a quick note to say a very big thank you for the lovely dinner we had today. The students enjoyed it very much and Jordan is thrilled by the interest from your chef.
Hope we get to come along again very soon.
Kind Regards

Great value so close to London.
The Airman hotel offers great value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful, food good value!
A few more remote controls for TV would not go a miss. Would I go back to the Airman? Definitely
Excellent value
Nice, cozy, friendly and convenient
Lovely stay
Although a little out the way the airman was friendly and very quiet made a lovely break
As we pulled into the car park we noticed a board displaying all the hotel's menus out the front. On reading the menu I found that several dishes took my fancy and so we decided to go in. At first when we walked in we thought we were in the wrong place but a welcoming receptionist told us were we in the right place and guided us through to the restaurant.
The restaurant had a lovely warm glow and the candles added the final touch. I decided not to have a starter, even though they sounded very tempting, but my husband did have the homemade chicken liver pate. It was lovely! For mains I had a chicken breast stuffed with herbs and cheese and the wrapped in parma ham and my husband had their duck breast. My chicken was so succulent and really tasty. My husband enjoyed his duck and said that it was cooked just right. I then had a slice of the white chocolate cheesecake, which I was told was the chef's speciality recipe. We then had 2 Irish coffee which ended our meal lovely. After paying we decided to move through to the bar area which had a wonderful open log fire! So cosy and inviting. After a few minutes we got talking to a member of staff who explained that the Airman had recently been taken over by some new managers who wanted to encourage the food side of the business. This is why I have written this review as we had such a lovely evening and I wanted to let everyone know. The Chef himself even popped out into the bar and was very pleased to hear that we enjoyed our meal so much. We will definitely be back again and probably will take some friends with us.

Contra-Props from the West Country
We had a room at the back which meant we had no disturbance from traffic noise, as the hotel is at a busy A-road junction. The food was excellent , and the room prices very good. Overall exactly what we wanted for visiting Letchworth and the surrounding countryside over a long w/end.
Surprisingly Good Hotel & Location
Don't let the roadside location put you off, The Airman nestles quite nicely into it's scenic, farmland backdrop. Neighbouring RAF Henlow & adjacent to a hybrid plane airfield (hence the name) guests with even the remotest knowledge in aviation are provided with an added interest, whilst still maintaining a quiet, relaxing stay.
The spacious bar & restaurant with friendly staff and warm, cosy atmosphere offer a varied choice of quite excellent cuisine. Our room, a double, was one of the largest, if not the largest we've ever encountered. Attractively furnished with a large TV & en suite bathroom, nicely topped off with a sumptuous, king size, four poster bed.
The surrounding areas offer something for every taste, from relaxing countryside walks to shopping in nearby attractive, historic towns.
An all round value for money, pleasant little gem.
I spent two nights at the Airman and booked before I read the reviews. When I read them I had immediate second thoughts but decided to go ahead. We got a little lost on the way and telephoned to find where we should go, the staff were very helpful and talked us in. We checked in and went to our room. It was a great surprise.
The room was large, clean and the bedding was white high quality duvets and cotton covers with a lot of pillows. Bathroom was excellent, clean and tidy with all you would expect including a sewing kit which I promptly dropped into my bag!!! I wanted to connect to the internet and went downstairs for the password. Couldn't connect initially which was my mistake but the duty manager and of all the people the chef helped me to get connected.
Had a great night's sleep and went down to breakfast and had the full monty and it was just right. Eggs didn't have the burnt skin, bacon crisp and a sausage. Plenty of toast, jam and coffee. Breakfast was just as good the next morning as was my night's sleep. I can only recommend this hotel and cannot fault it in any way at all.
If there was any possibility of negative comment it was that the hotel was a little tired but I was staying as a guest not living there full time.
Don't be put off by the previous comments, the hotel is excellent and I would have no problem staying there again and probably will. I'm sure everyone reading this will think the hotel has written this, not true.
